Flame-retardant density boards commonly have a fire resistance rating of Class B1, meaning they are difficult to ignite. Some high-quality products can meet the Class A non-combustible standard.
Current Standard: According to GB 8624-2012 "Classification of Fire Performance for Building Materials and Products," mainstream market products are labeled as Class B1 or Class B (difficult to ignite).
Rating Meaning: Class A indicates non-combustible materials; Class B1 indicates flame-retardant materials; Class B2 indicates combustible materials. For a board to be considered flame-retardant, it must achieve at least Class B1.
Old vs. New Standards: Under the old standard (GB 8624-2006 and earlier), the equivalent was Class B1. The new standard further subdivides into Classes A1, A2, B, and C. When purchasing, it is recommended to check the test report to confirm the specific classification.
When making actual purchases, request official test reports from manufacturers and verify that the combustion performance rating in the report meets project requirements.
