Particleboard Industry Moves Toward Green & High-End, Led by OSB

2026 opens a new chapter for China's particleboard industry, entering a high-quality development stage with a shift toward green and intelligent transformation. OSB and formaldehyde-free particleboard are key growth drivers, with market scale projected to exceed 90 billion yuan this year.

Policies strongly drive transformation. From 2026, E1-grade wood-based panels will be fully eliminated nationwide, making ENF/NAF high environmental standards mainstream. The EU's CBAM pushes low-carbon transition, and the integrated forest-board model becomes a crucial core competitiveness.

Product upgrading is prominent. OSB, with 8%-10% expected annual growth, is the preferred material for prefabricated buildings. Formaldehyde-free particleboard has entered European and American high-end markets, accounting for over 15% of the global formaldehyde-free particleboard share.

Growth is supported by domestic demand and exports. Domestically, rising custom furniture penetration and accelerated prefabricated building promotion drive demand for high-quality particleboard. Internationally, RCEP dividends boost ASEAN exports (42% of total), with OSB exports to Vietnam, Malaysia expected to rise 25% year-on-year.
