Conflicts in the Middle East make sailing through the Red Sea unsafe. Most ships choose to take the longer route around the Cape of Good Hope instead. Shipping fees to Middle East countries have gone up greatly, together with extra war risk and fuel charges.
It also takes more days to deliver goods. All exporters need to work out transport costs and delivery schedules ahead of time to avoid losses.
