PLYWOOD

Plywood is a laminated board material made by gluing together three or more layers of veneer or thin wood slices, which are usually cut from logs by peeling or slicing. The veneers are typically arranged in odd numbers and the grain directions of adjacent layers are perpendicular to each other. Plywood is one of the commonly used materials in furniture making and is one of the three major types of engineered wood. It can also be used as a material for aircraft, ships, trains, automobiles, buildings, and packaging boxes. A set of veneers is usually assembled in a way that the grain directions of adjacent layers are perpendicular to each other, and the surface and inner layers are symmetrically arranged on both sides of the core layer. The veneers are glued and then pressed under heat or without heat to form the board. The number of layers is usually odd, but there are also a few even-numbered ones. The physical and mechanical properties in the longitudinal and transverse directions are relatively similar. Common types of plywood include three-ply and five-ply. Plywood can improve the utilization rate of wood and is a major way to save wood.
The common size specifications are 1220×2440mm, and the thickness specifications are generally 3, 5, 9, 12, 15, 18mm, etc. The main tree species include beech, camphor, poplar, willow, eucalyptus, etc.
