Formaldehyde is a common culprit of indoor air pollution. Long-term exposure to formaldehyde may have adverse effects on human health. Therefore, the environmental protection grade of boards is mainly classified based on their formaldehyde emission levels. Currently, the common environmental protection grade standards on the market are as follows:
(1) New National Standard Grade E
China officially implemented the new national standard on October 1, 2021. This standard is divided into three grades: E1, E0, and ENF. The formaldehyde emission standards for each grade are as follows: E1 grade ≤ 0.124mg/m³, which is a national mandatory standard and the entry-level standard for environmentally friendly boards; E0 grade ≤ 0.050mg/m³, with relatively low formaldehyde emissions, suitable for most families; ENF grade ≤ 0.025mg/m³, which is the highest environmental protection standard in the current new national standard, representing extremely low formaldehyde emissions.
